About Me

Hello!
My name is Elana. (That's pronounced, Elaine-a...)

Welcome to my travel blog, Many Moons Aglow, where I share tales and photographs of my big and small journeys all around the world.  I love researching, planning, travelling, and finding new experiences generally.  I also enjoy taking lots and lots of photographs.  If you are as obsessed with travel planning as I am (or just like to imagine the possibilities) you will hopefully find that my travelogues and photography help to inform and inspire your next great adventure.  And, if like you me you enjoy reminiscing once you've already been there and back, we can reflect and reminisce together.

To give you an idea of my travel style, nature, food, mysterious places, plants/gardens, art, history, local culture, architecture, wildlife, and nerdy pursuits are particular interests of mine.  You'll notice that booze, beaches, and dancing are conspicuously absent.  For accommodations, I usually stick to hotels and B&Bs.  For planes, I almost always leave from O'Hare Airport in Chicago (my hometown) and, in general, I fly coach.  As for my favorite places to visit, I have love for just about everywhere abroad, but must especially acknowledge the Mediterranean region - I have family there, so I'll always have a special affinity for it.

My constant travel companion is my husband, Andy, so you'll tend to see his name pop up again and again throughout these trip reports.  We are two normal people with full-time day jobs, a limited PTO bank, and a budget, so if you are more or less in the same boat, hopefully our experiences will especially resonate/be helpful to you.

Finally, we have also been known to go travelling with my extended family, including my mom and dad, sister, and brother-in-law.  I have two young nieces as well now, so at some point I am sure our travelling adventures will continue with them alongside.

Thanks so much for visiting, and happy travels!
